How did thieves stay so healthy during plagues?

In my ongoing studies of essential oils and their anti-viral, anti-bacterial properties I came across the following tidbit;  During the middle ages and the plague it was found that those merchants who brought spices and fragrances from Asia did not seem to catch the plague. Since much written information during this time was destroyed we have only the few incidental notes that survived. It was also noted that thieves would go into the places where bodies of those who died from the plague were kept and rob them. They also seemed to be immune. Both sets of people noted that they used the spices and oils all over their bodies. Especially noted were oils of clove, rosemary and cinnamon.

Of course, today there have been studies done in France and England and by Gary Young in the States that show that these oils have these anti-viral and anti bacterial properties. Use those oils!! They will help you stay healthy!
